I'm gonna explain simply about how to put the background image for your blog! this post is specially for LeahPeah =D
Well, this is what i've learned when i download several templates from other sites and even comparing the html-s of the templates in bloggers.com. I don't know if it works for Classic templates cause i'm not using it as i don't use the skins downloaded elsewhere...
You just need some html editting and it's done! very simple! =D I'll explain first by using LeahPeah's template: Thisaway Blue. I think the best way was to upload pictures of it, so try to search for these parts in your HTML... ^^;
see that link i've highlighted? you just need to upload the image somewhere else, copy the link and paste it there =D
But using this template, it'd be better to stick to the original template's background cause the post's background will cover it... and if you do upload the background image for this, make sure the background's colour blend with background's colour... DX okay, how do i put it, this is a little confusing.... say, if you upload an image with black background, you might want to change your blog's background... to change it, you have to edit the html colours which is # and followed by 6 digits/letters (e.g. #4386ce) for white is #ffffff, black #000000 and etc... you can check for more here. Or to make your life simpler, you can just upload PNG images that have transparent background with just those characters extracted out. If you don't want to do that, well, you can make use of your image editting skill and change the colour of the image yourself. =D
That will allow you to place the image on the background of your blog! =D but if you want to put an image on the post's body (FYI - in Thisaway Blue template, it is that area light blue in colour where your posts show up) use this instead:
like the previous one, you just need to copy and paste image link on the place i've highlighted...
By using the Minima Black template in Blogger.com, you will come across different style of HTML. but this is much simpler to me ^^; that's why i'm still using this one as the base of my blogs...
besides inserting the image link, you can also add other details to it!
background-attachment:fixed; (keeps your image in one place - when you scroll, the image will remain on the same place.. see the Yamamoto's image in the background of my blog... if you do not want it to be this way, just remove this portion)
background-position:bottom left; (allows you to change the position of the image: center / top left / top / top right / bottom left / bottom / bottom right. if position is not stated, the image will be automatically placed in the center)
background-repeat:no-repeat; (there will only be one of this image in the desirable position. if you change the "no-repeat" to "repeat", it will be tiled until the whole page is filled - just like how your desktop wallpaper works =D)

Okay my image only has the character extracted out and im hosting the image in photo bucket. When i pasted the image it stayed the same when i clicked on preveiw-_-. then i tried adding the other background stuff like color and what side it should be on but it still stayed the same...
okay photo bucket has different links so which should i use, direct link,html link, or igm link?
use the direct link for you background... if you want to use the image for your blog post, use the html link...
PX that's weird... try copying what you have editted and paste it here... and i'll try to can help...
